What will care cost me?
A monthly offer looks manageable. Then you notice that the page never says whether the visit, medicine or tests are included.
The lowest number is my ongoing total
Ask for a written total for the proposed plan. List charges separately for the appointment, medicine, tests, delivery and later care before comparing offers.
A starting medicine price is not a full care quote
Semaglutide, sold under names including Ozempic and Wegovy, treats diabetes or supports weight care, depending on which product is proposed.
On September 26, 2026, the government cash-price listing for semaglutide (Wegovy) tablets showed a starting offer of $149 a month.
That September 26, 2026 offer was a starting price, rather than a price for every strength.
Strength means how much active ingredient a product contains. Use the example to ask about the exact prescribed product, rather than building a budget around a headline.
Check what happens after the opening offer
A medicine pen is a device used to give an injection. A fill means the supply provided when a pharmacy fills your prescription. Self-pay means paying yourself, outside insurance.
As of September 26, 2026, an opening offer for semaglutide (Ozempic) injection pens charged $199 for a month’s supply at the lowest strengths.
The offer is limited to eligible new self-pay patients, covers their first two fills only, and ends December 31, 2026.
After those opening fills, the quoted monthly rate is $349 or $499, according to strength.
Those self-pay terms do not allow the spending to count toward an insurance deductible or be reimbursed by insurance.
A deductible is what you must spend on certain covered care before your plan begins to pay for that care. Ask the insurer how the proposed payment route affects your own plan.
Request these lines in the quote
- What would the visit cost if I leave without a medicine prescription?
- Is medicine part of that price or a separate charge?
- What tests, delivery charges or supplies are extra?
- What does follow-up cost, and how do I end the plan?
- What is the ongoing total after any opening discount?

These medicine-price examples are dated. Ask for the actual current charge before making a care decision.
