Providence care guidebook
What can I ask before choosing care?
A visit is coming up and you do not want to forget the awkward questions. Pick a few now, while there is time to think.
The assumption
I need to know all the medical words before I can ask
The answer
A useful question asks who, what, why or how. Pick the questions that would help you understand the offer, then take them to the visit.
Choose the questions you want to take
Tick the questions that fit. Use the list as a prompt at your visit.
Ask for words you can repeat back
When an explanation is unclear, request another explanation from the clinician using the medicine’s full name. Ask for the care plan and quote in writing.
Leave room for your own question. Start with what you want help with, rather than trying to choose a product before the assessment.
