Which pharmacy is behind the medicine?

You know the service’s name, but cannot see who will send the medicine. Treat that missing name as an unanswered question.

The assumption

The name on the website tells me who makes it

The answer

Ask for the business that makes the medicine or fills the prescription. Keep asking until you have its full name, rather than only the name on the care website.

A Rhode Island delivery needs a Rhode Island check

As of September 30, 2026, a pharmacy based outside Rhode Island must hold a state nonresident licence before sending prescription medicine into the state.

A nonresident licence is Rhode Island’s permission for a pharmacy based elsewhere.

Ask the service which pharmacy will send the medicine and where that pharmacy is licensed. Use the health department’s pharmacy page as the starting point for questions about the state record.

Follow an official route to the licence record

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has a pharmacy-locator page that links to state pharmacy-licence records.

FDA advises you to pass over an online pharmacy if its state pharmacy board does not list it as licensed.

If a search is unclear, ask the state board about the exact business name. Do not assume the doctor’s search also covers pharmacies.

Match the label to the business

In diabetes and weight care, semaglutide brands include Ozempic and Wegovy; tirzepatide brands include Mounjaro and Zepbound. Compounded versions are medicines made to order, rather than finished products from a drug manufacturer.

As of September 26, 2026, FDA has found fabricated pharmacy information on labels for compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide. Some named pharmacies were nonexistent; others had no role in making the medicine.

Compare the pharmacy named before payment with the name on the package. If they differ, ask for an explanation from the service and the pharmacy before treating the names as interchangeable.

Ask who can answer medicine questions

Ask how to reach the pharmacist who sends your medicine and answers questions about it. The care website may arrange your visit. A person there may write your prescription. One pharmacy may make the medicine and another may send it. Ask for each name and job.

Write the names beside what each person or business does. That makes a later question about a package label, delivery or charge easier to direct.
